1. Who we are
sobryo is a sobriety tracking app available for iPhone. Our goal is to help people track and celebrate their milestones on the journey to quit or reduce harmful habits — with kindness and without judgment.
This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect information from sobryo users. By using the app, you agree to the practices described here.
2. Data we collect
Data you provide directly:
- Name and email — used to create and access your account. Your email will never be shared with third parties for marketing purposes.
- Habits you track — the type of habit (e.g. alcohol, smoking), the streak start date, and any relapse history you record.
- Personal notes and reflections — optional text you add to your progress, such as your "identity statement" or notes on relapses.
- Support contact — name, phone number, or email of a support person, if you choose to add one.
- Profile photo — an optional image stored locally and securely on our servers.
Data collected automatically:
- Subscription information — managed by the Apple App Store and RevenueCat. We never have access to your credit card details — payments are processed exclusively by Apple.
- App preferences — selected language, notification settings, and local device preferences.
- Anonymous usage data — how the app is being used, without identifying you personally.
sobryo does NOT collect: location data, phone contacts, camera access (except when you deliberately choose a profile photo), or any sensitive health data beyond what you record yourself.
3. How we use your data
We use your information solely to:
- Create and maintain your user account
- Sync your progress across devices
- Display your milestones, streaks, and history within the app
- Process and manage your Premium subscription
- Send encouragement notifications (only if you opt in)
- Improve the app using anonymous, aggregated usage data
- Respond to support requests
Your data is never sold, rented, or shared with advertisers. We show no advertising inside the app.
4. Third-party services
To function, sobryo relies on a few trusted external services. Each has its own privacy policy, available at the links below.
5. Storage and security
Your data is stored in two ways:
- Locally on your device — the app works offline. Your habits and progress are saved on your iPhone first, then synced to the cloud in the background.
- In the cloud (Supabase) — stored on servers with encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Each account can only access its own data, protected by row-level security (RLS) policies.
We follow security best practices to protect your information, though no system is 100% impenetrable. In the event of a security incident affecting your data, we will notify you at your registered email address.
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account inside the app, all your data is permanently removed from our servers.
6. Your rights
Under applicable privacy laws (including GDPR and CCPA where applicable), you have the following rights:
- Access — request a copy of all data we hold about you
- Correction — update or correct your information directly in the app (Profile → edit)
- Deletion — delete your account and all associated data directly in the app (Profile → Delete account)
- Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format
- Withdraw consent — disable notifications at any time in your iPhone settings
- Objection — object to any specific use of your data

7. Children
sobryo is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a child has created an account on sobryo, please contact us immediately at hi@sobryo.online and we will remove the information as quickly as possible.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you by email or through a notification inside the app before the changes take effect.
The date of the last update is always shown at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes implies acceptance of the updated policy.
